Veterans Memorial Project

"...Let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom..."
-Dwight D. Eisenhower

Fairmount CDC along with a team of community volunteers headed by Jim Kernaghan are rasing funds to restore and rebuilt the forgotten Veteran's Park located on the south side of Girard Avenue and 31st Street.

The project that will cost an estimated $15,000 includes:
  • Cleaning and restoration of the monument
  • A new plaque honoring local veterans of all wars
  • One 20' flagpole with both the American Flag and the POW Flag
  • A new landscape design and plantings
  • Benches for visitors and veterans
We have secured some initial funding but need to raise more in order to accomplish our vision. If you would like to be part of restoring this community landmark please consider donating. Checks can be made payable to Fairmount CDC and sent to or dropped of at 2206 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130. Credit cards are accepted online below.
