Health Care

Get COVID-19 updates sent to your phone

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health Greater Philadelphia Coronavirus Helpline

The Helpline can be reached by calling 1-800-722-7112. The Helpline, free and available 24/7, is a resource that anyone in the Greater Philadelphia area, including the public and healthcare providers, are encouraged to use to help answer all of their questions about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Testing has opened at Citizens Bank Park. Testing is available to the following:

People who are over 50 years of age AND are displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19 coronavirus:

- Fever

- Cough

- Shortness of Breath

Healthcare workers who are displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19 coronavirus including:

- Hospital and doctors office staff with direct patient contact

- Nursing home staff with direct patient contact

- People who perform Emergency Medical Services duties

- Home healthcare staff with direct patient contact

Please call ahead before you visit one of these clinics. The Health Department will work with them to coordinate testing if appropriate.


Schools and Childcare

The District is coordinating with the City’s Office of Children and Families, Parks & Recreation, and many other departments and nonprofit partners to provide meal service and activities in safe spaces throughout the city.

50 recreation centers will remain open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. These centers will provide grab-and-go meals to young people ages 18 and under. Meals will be distributed at 3 p.m. each afternoon.

The Division of Maternal, Child and Family Health/PDPH

is launching an app called Pacify, to provide breastfeeding support via tele-lactation. This support will be available 24/7 when it launches. Check back for a launch date!


Utilities & other services

With customers potentially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, PECO understands and is taking steps to help. Effective today, PECO is suspending service disconnections and waiving new late payment charges through at least May 1, 2020.  In addition, PECO will continue to remind customers of existing bill assistance resources and energy assistance programs to support them through temporary or extended financial hardship.

Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Chairman Gladys Brown Dutrieuille signed an emergency order prohibiting electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, telecommunication and steam utility terminations.  The moratorium will remain in place for as long as the Proclamation of Disaster, issued by Gov. Tom Wolf on March 6 related to the Coronavirus, is in effect.
