February Community Digest

We are only one month in, but 2024 has been busy already:

Black History Month

Philadelphia Museum of Art

One of the best places to celebrate Black History Month is right in the neighborhood; visit this link for all that's planned at the Philadelphia Museum of Art this February, starting with their Family Festival on the 4th.

Smith Playground

Smith Memorial Playground’s Leaders and Legends Black History Month exhibit is back for its fourth year. The exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, February 6, at 10 am. This free, family-friendly exhibit honors the contributions of local African American leaders across a wide range of fields, including fields whose impact has made Philly a better place to live, work, grow, and play. The exhibit is made up of educational displays focusing on each honoree’s life and achievements and includes a kid-friendly scavenger hunt. The exhibit will be open for outdoor viewing all month long.

Black-Owned Business Spotlights

Learn about a few of the black-owned businesses in our neighborhood and stay tuned for more highlights of others throughout the month.

Corridor Manager Services

Lastly, last week Meredith Ellison - our Community Business Advocate - graduated from PACDC's Corridor Manager On-Boarding Program! Meredith has led the refresh of the business resources page of our web site, now featuring spaces available in the neighborhood to grow your business, and last night led the start of our fourth PhillyiHub cohort - a free program helping local entrepreneurs take their next step. Congratulations and thank you Meredith!
