October Neighborhood News

This is the best neighborhood in the city for enjoying fall - and we want to make sure everyone's included in the seasonal celebrations. All month:

We are kicking off the month with our final Sidewalk Social of the year. Meet friends and neighbors on Fairmount Avenue this Thursday night from 5pm-7pm between 24th and 25th Street - enjoy music, food and drink, plus 20+ local businesses and vendors!

Here's what else is coming up:

  • Happy New Year to our Jewish neighbors, celebrating Rosh Hashanah!

  • Boozy Mutt on Poplar is hosting Singles Sip this Friday, "a matchmaking event for anyone looking for other pooch-passionate Philadelphians."

  • Saturday, October 5 is the Friends of Eastern State Penitentiary Park Breakout Race, sponsored by CoreFitness, a neighborhood 5k and half-mile fun run - sign up at this link.

  • It's also Discovery Fest Day at The Discovery Center from 10am-4pm.

  • Aiyah's next Art Market at 1809 Fairmount is Saturday, October 12.

  • Friday, October 18 the Friends and Family of Bache Martin is hosting a movie night on the Brown Street lawn behind the Eastern State at 6pm.

EC Urban Gardens

Efren Cazales started E.C. Urban Gardens out of a love for nature and the beauty of plants. “Philadelphians love plants and need to have nature outside their door step or window” he said. Learn more.
