About Sound Space Performing Arts

Founded in 2015, Sound Space Performing Arts is an urban dance studio for all ages and all levels. Our educational mission is grounded in a deep understanding of music and rhythm, driven by a knowledge of world dance traditions and American history, and committed to growing and encouraging the next generation of dance artists. We have the only youth percussive dance conservatory program on the East Coast. Our 4,000 square foot studio home is located at 2511 West Girard Avenue, 2nd Floor in Brewerytown, Philadelphia and is founded by Pamela Hetherington. How the COVID-19 Business Relief Fund Will Help

Since we are not an essential business, Sound Space Performing Arts was forced to suspend all operations in our physical space as of Monday, March 16. While we have been able to move many of our dance classes online for our enrolled students, we have lost all revenue from our drop-in classes and class cards. Due to an uncertainty about the future, we have also experienced a dip in future enrollments for summer and fall programs. The relief money that we were given by the Fairmount CDC has gone towards helping us pay our incredible faculty and maintain the overhead for our physical space.

How you Can Continue to Support Sound Space Performing Arts

  1. Find us online! We have continued to offer free online classes and 'dance breaks' for our local and global community on our Instagram page. Sharing a post or telling a friend about us helps keep our programming active and visible!

  2. Check out our summer and fall programming! We have a full slate of kids and adult camps, workshops, intensives and sessions planned for the rest of the year. While none of us can predict the future, we WILL be back in the studio again and we want to see you there!

To help more small businesses during this time, please consider contributing to the COVID-19 Business Relief Fund.
