The months-long street closure on Girard Avenue has devastated businesses on the corridor. Recent news reports from NBC10 and 6ABC have shared some of these challenges. For the next two weeks we are asking neighbors to contribute to our Girard Avenue Business Relief Fund to support those who help make the neighborhood unique. There has been lots of additional news from neighborhood businesses. Bold Coffee Bar on Ridge Avenue in Francisville was featured in this Eater Philadelphia piece on the best Black-Owned Bakeries. iMunch Cafe on 31st Street in Brewerytown and Figs on Meredith Street in Fairmount both earned shoutouts in this Inquirer article on halal dining in Philadelphia. The Black Taxi on 25th Street topped this list on places to watch the World Cup across the city; catch the finals this Sunday at 10am!

“To be invited the Taste of Fairmount, having only been open for six months, was great exposure and an experience I will never forget,” expressed Shekia Johnson of @skys.place, a new Black-Owned, woman-owned, and veteran-owned restaurant at 29th and Girard, honored with the Best Signature Dish prize for their stuffed salmon. “I was full of joy to hear from everyone how good the dishes were.”
