Second Saturday on Girard Avenue returns next weekend - Saturday, January 14 - a great time to shop local businesses.
Monday, January 16 is the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. There are special events at Girard College and Eastern State Penitentiary; you can find opportunities across the city at this link.
Safer Streets for All is hosting a community meeting next Tuesday, January 10 at 6pm at The City School on 24th Street. To support community safety adjacent to Fairmount Park, and with funding from the state Department of Community and Economic Development, Fairmount CDC is in the process of installing additional lighting in Lemon Hill - eager to support similar projects later this year.
Lastly, Fairmount CDC has renewed our lease at 2837 W. Girard Avenue - stop by and see us! We're out in the neighborhood at times, but expect to be present in-office most on Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-5pm.

Taking down those Christmas trees? Bring them to Corinthian Garden this weekend and next! Woodchips will be re-purposed and money raised will help maintain the park. Please note, we canât take wreaths or garland with wire as it will damage the chipper. Give your tree some new life so we can enjoy its benefits all year round!
