Neighborhood News and Notes

After two years away, we cannot wait to celebrate the return of the Fairmount Arts Crawl next weekend, on Sunday, June 26 from noon to 4pm. This event has long brought neighbors together and new attention to our community's creators, while drawing new visitors to our local businesses - looking forward to seeing you there!

This weekend - Saturday, June 18 - be sure to visit CADO, an experiential art fair and makers market highlighting the Philadelphia region’s Black artists, small businesses, and makers, curated by Debora Charmelus. It's happening in an amazing space at 19th and Oxford; click here for more details and tickets. Our business spotlight for the month is Sulimay Salon & Barber Studio. Follow Fairmount CDC on social media for more from Sulimay's throughout June. There has been great press for a number of local businesses recently, including Era on Poplar Street, and The Monkey and The Elephant once more. Lastly, The Inquirer has updated their "best burgers in the city" list, and Bar Hygge and SpOt Gourmet Burgers received well-deserved recognition once again. Make sure these spots, and the rest of our neighborhood businesses, are a part of your plans this summer!

GAMBA Spotlight: Sulimay's Salon & Barber Studio

This month’s GAMBA business spotlight features Sulimay's Salon & Barber Studio, a Fairmount staple since 1963. Stay tuned for their spotlight week coming June 27th as well as an Instagram Takeover and live interview from their space.

GAMBA Networking Event: June 17th

The Greater Art Museum Business Alliance will host a Meet Up for neighborhood business-owners on Friday, June 17 from 8am to 9am at The Monkey and The Elephant on 2831 West Girard Avenue. Snacks and drinks will be provided! Please email jmarchetti@fairmountcdc.org if you'd like to attend.

We are excited to be back in-person and able to create space for businesses to network with each other and share their ideas, questions, successes, and concerns. Through this event, Fairmount CDC hopes facilitate connections between GAMBA members while learning more about you, your businesses, and how the Greater Art Museum Business Alliance can better serve you through specific programming and support.
